Post Secondary Bridges
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Post Secondary Bridges program helps young adult newcomers and refugees transition from high school into a range of post-secondary opportunities – college, university, certificate, and vocational training – with the resources and support they need to finish their program of choice and work towards meaningful careers and full employment.
Rooted in existing programs at high schools with high refugee and international newcomer populations, Post Secondary Bridges fills the gap between high school and career development. The program addresses barriers to career development, namely the need for young adults to contribute to household income, the deficit of English language skills for accessing educational and employment training and certification programs, and the high dropout rates of newcomers after enrollment into post-secondary and workforce programs.
